Water and Sewer The majority of the city streets, water mains, and sewer mains have been replaced in the past ten years . Beginning in 2003 there will be 8 years remaining on the assessment. The city put up a new 100,000 gallon water sphere water tower in 2001 and replaced a portion of the main water transmission lines from the wells. The water treatment plant was built in 1985 and updated in 1990 and again in 2001. Our Superintendent is certified for water waste treatment and collection, and water treatment and distribution. |

Sewer rates are based on an average of 7,000 gallons per month. The city has 5 lift stations in the city and the lagoon has three cells located about a mile south of town. |

Streets In 1994-95 improvements, such as curb and gutter replacements and handicap accessible sidewalks for a portion of the city, were implemented. The majority of the city streets have been replaced and the project will continue. |

Airport The airport is located about one mile south of town. It has a 3600 foot runway. The Cooperstown Airport Authority applied to the ND Aeronautics Commission and received grant funding to reconstruct the runway, and rehab of taxi and apron. This project was completed in 2003. A planned extension of the runway is anticipated in 2004. |

Emergency Services The Cooperstown Ambulance service owns two ambulances. The service is handled by 24-26 volunteer EMT's, First Responders, and drivers. The Fire Department has 32 volunteers, 2 trucks, a pumper, a tanker, and a rescue unit. Last year 8 of the Firemen passed the Fire Fighter Essentials 2 test. There were only 38 other Fire Fighters in the state that had passed that exam at that time. The Fire Department holds monthly meetings and training sessions to stay abreast. Griggs County Law Enforcement serves all communities in Griggs County and is stationed in Cooperstown. The Department has one Sheriff and three Deputies that all reside in Cooperstown. They work around the clock with some of the most technologically advanced equipment in the state. They are equipped with laptop computers with 911 maps in their cars, pick-ups, and suburban. |
